DC's iconic cherry blossoms are officially making their way onto the court & baseball diamond!

The Washington Nationals & Wizards both revealed stunning new alternate uniforms today inspired by the flower famous that surrounds the Tidal Basin. The Nats took a more neutral approach with predominantly gray uniforms featuring faint outlines of the cherry blossoms and pastel details while the Wizards fully embraced the pink and changed the dot of the i to a blossom.

In a press release, Mark Lerner, the Nationals' managing principal owner, said “Washington D.C.’s cherry blossoms represent hope and new beginnings, making them the perfect symbol of this Nationals team. We’re excited to unveil these beautiful uniforms as the embodiment of our historic organization’s hopeful future as we lead the District of Cherry Blossoms celebration with our friends at the Wizards.”

It's no coincidence that half of DC's sports teams unveiled these new looks today. The Athletic reported that Nike was in on the partnership and that this is the first time in history that they have partnered with two teams from the same city using the same theme at the same time.

The Nats will debut their uniforms on April 9. The Wizards will debut theirs during the 2022-2023 season.

Correction: an earlier version of this article stated that the Wizards would debut their uniforms on April 10.
