EIGHT WEEKS PREGNANT AND 38 WEEKS PREGNANT!
I have gotten so many emails from people asking how I lost my weight after I had baby MJ, I had no idea so many people struggled the way I did after having babies. So here it goes.. Here is the story of my weight loss journey.
By the end of my pregnancy (which for me was 38 weeks) I had gained 63 pounds, weighing in at 188. YES you heard me right. I tried to stay as healthy as possible, but by the end I got so sick with Preeclampsia and no matter what I did, I just kept packing on the pounds.
Losing it wasn't easy either. You know those women who walk out of the hospital looking like they never had a baby? I walked out of the hospital looking like I easily could give birth to another one at any moment. LOL.
During the first couple of weeks home, I lost about 20 pounds. I was breastfeeding like crazy and I really believed all the stories that the weight would just fall off, it didn't. It was a constant struggle and I felt uncomfortable.
I gradually started to work out a little bit and I saw some minimal changes. I would lose a pound here and there but nothing too exciting or motivating. I reached 155 and literally sat there for 3 months. It was disheartening.
Finally after Marriage Botocamp and feeling refreshed I decided that I needed a real plan. I started eating differently. Not perfectly, but much better. I decided to make a conscious effort to NOT eat badly! And then I started working out!
But here's the best part, I didn't kill myself, I joined Corecamper.com which gives you a workout every weekday that is less than 20 mins. At first I thought, yeah right, there's no way 20 min workouts will work...but then I saw the results.
I get bored easily so I loved that the workout switched daily. Plus being a new momma, I am constantly tired and busy, but even I can find 20 mins. You can check out their program HERE if you are interested. Make sure to find something that works for you! I love corecamper and it worked for me. I also watched some food documentaries and did some research on food in general and decided to go gluten free.
I did NOT go gluten free to lose weight, I did it because I thought it was the healthy thing for me to do and I was trying to fight my constant exhaustion and I read that it could help with that, but I am sure it has played a role in my weight loss as well.
I will say this; I really did not start losing a lot of weight until after I stopped breast-feeding. I breast fed for a year and I think my body just held on to extra weight. I fully recommend breast-feeding though so if your body is anything like mine, and you are breastfeeding, just be patient. Your time will come.
Today I feel great! I continue to do corecamper, eat well, and I am still gluten free. I am thrilled with the results. The important thing to note is that this has been a process! It didn't happen over night. It took over a year. The thing is, we have these unrealistic expectations of how quick our bodies will bounce back. Yeah some women don't look like they have ever had babies right after birth, but most of those women have personal trainers and chefs lol. Put in the work, eat right and BE PATIENT! That's all the advice I really have! Good Luck you MILFS!
