Let's talk about how I got caught in the crossfire of two teens shoplifting and a mall security guard yesterday.
Guys, it is a scary, scary world out there. A world that is full of angsty teens wearing too much eyeliner who listen to My Chemical Romance (wait...that was me) um, who wear fake hipster glasses and listen to One Direction? Is that what they are listening to these days? I have no idea man...
Well, here I was, admittedly at national mall store that caters to teens, enjoying a leisurely early evening, window shopping. I love to just go to the mall by myself sometimes and walk around. I feel like it is so soothing and provides me so much mental clarity. The soft jazz music and the freshly steamed clothes hanging ever so delicately on display rods like a piece of fine art at the Met make help me find an unusual sense of peace. Just for the record, I rarely buy things. I'm a broke college student! I can't even buy a coffee without a line of sweat developing above my brow because I am so worried that my card will get declined.
I was NOT shoplifting in high school. I was watching this!
So I was walking into this store and out of no where this husky mall security guard comes running at ME after the two aforementioned teenagers. In the process, he PUSHES me to the side to get to them a little faster (not exactly physically, but more of a brush). He doesn't catch the teenagers in time before they run out of the mall and begrudgingly walks back to the store to have a chat with the manager.
At this time, I really just wanted to get the heck out of there, but I was kinda worried he would run after me if I left the store too quickly after I had entered. So I just lingered in there and looked at the crappy $20 tee shirts for 10 minutes until I felt like it was an appropriate time to leave.
Also, while this was happening the store manager was telling the other sales girl that she "needs to grab them" before they leave the store. Apparently it is out of the mall cops jurisdiction to do anything in the store.
So much drama for a Tuesday!! Also, what is the point of stealing a $5 necklace? It's cheap and not worth it (like many of the girls I went to high school with).
I'm going to leave you with this video of Matilda. Erick just told me he has never seen it! What?!?!!?!? How is this possible!
