Good Morning people! I’m in such a good mood today that I can’t stand it! I know it is because I made “Party in the USA” my alarm clock song. How can you wake up to that and NOT have a good day?

The FIRST thing I did was have a 4 a.m. solo dance party. Then I had another one in the car on the way here. Ke&ha’s “Die Young” was the first song to play and I was just like “YESSSSSSSS this is the best day ever!!” I started clapping my hands during the “I hear your heartttt beat to the beat of my drums...” but then I started to lose control of the car so I was like “Ali you need to stop.” Then I started to snap my fingers and the guy next to me at the stoplight gave me this look and I was like “Dude, what’s your problem?”

Anyway. So last night I thought of the BEST BLOG EVER, all the free stuff you get on election day! I love free stuff and I love America so this is the best of both worlds!!! I did some research on Twitter and unfortunately there isn’t as much free stuff as the last presidential election in 2008 because apparently people were complaining that giving away a free donut (or whatever)  is like paying for votes (which is illegal).

I don’t understand why people have a problem with this. It’s not like they are giving away a donut to people who only vote for a specific candidate. They are giving one to everyone who voted! It’s just like how my Mom used to bribe me to be a good person by taking me on shopping trips to Limited Too (rest in peace).

But there are still a few free things to be had. Here are a few of them:

FREE TACOS

California Tortilla is giving away a free taco to everyone who shows their “I voted” sticker or says
“Vote” to the cashier (you don’t even need to be registered). I told this to Intern Monet and she said that she “doesn’t eat tacos.” To which I replied that she is unamerican because there is nothing MORE American than eating inauthentic Mexican food.

FREE WRISTBANDS & (POSSIBLY) FREE COFFEE

Starbucks might be giving away a free tall (12 oz.) coffee to EVERYONE who asks! How awesome is that!? The limit is one per customer so I am going to go to eight different Starbucks to get my daily fill. But this is super unofficial and I read it on Tweets and on this blog post. They will, officially, be giving away free wristbands to celebrate the one year anniversary of their Create Jobs for USA initiative.

FACT: I am addicted to coffee. At one point in my life I actually was drinking 8-10 cups a day to get through. I had to stop that for reasons which I’m sure you would not want me to get into here and now consume around two cups per day. The way I look at it, I don’t have many vices in my life. I don’t smoke or do drugs, so if the one thing I do is drink a little coffee then it’s fine.

(POSSIBLY) FREE FLIGHT

JetBlue is awarding 1,006 travel certificates (worth a base fare of a roundtrip flight to one of JetBlue’s Caribbean locations), but only to those whose candidate loses. Just enter the Election Protection 2012 sweepstakes, choose either Republican or Democrat, and you will be entered if your candidate loses. Winners will be announced November 7. Sounds like a pretty good consolation prize to me! Also, can we all just agree to not complain on Facebook & Twitter about who wins? It’s just not productive. Let’s unite and love each other.

HALF-OFF ZIP CAR

Wanna go on an unplanned mid-week road trip November 6th, but don’t have a car? No problem! Zipcar will be offering half-off rates from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. November 6th. Plus, there is no requirement to vote! If you follow my Twitter feed you would know that I especially need this as I was tweeting dark, twisty and emotionally charged Tweets last night (but they were really nothing compared to my diary from 8th grade. That’s where I keep the good stuff.) The only thing with this offer is that it is not valid for 8+ hour reservations so you’re only going to be able to make it 3.5 hours before you need to turn around. Athletic apparel company, Lululemon, is holding free yoga classes throughout Maryland, D.C. and Virginia. Check out this link for a list of locations. This is perfect for someone like me who is really high strung, but I don’t relax (or want to) so I’ll give up my spot for you. Enjoy!
